Utilities Kingston and Kingston Fire and Rescue will be checking over 3,600 hydrants.
Dogs may have to experience some inconvenience when they are out for a walk.
Utilities Kingston along with Kingston Fire and Rescue will be conducting their annual fire hydrant inspection.
The inspection will see water flushing, checking of the mechanical parts, flow rate and overall condition of each hydrant.
In a news release, the City says the inspection is to ensure firefighters have the water pressure they need to respond to emergencies.
They say over 3,600 hydrants will be subject to inspection this year including newly installed ones.
Hydrant inspections will occurred in two zones.
Zone 1: East of the Cataraqui river, south of the 401, north of the St Lawrence River and west of Abbey Dawn Rd.
Zone 5: East of Days Rd, south of John Counter Blvd, north of Lake Ontario and west of Sir John A MacDonald Blvd.
Residents living in those zones may experience low water pressure and water discolouration, both things the City says are considered normal when performing inspections.
More about the fire hydrant inspection can be found by going to the Utilities Kingston website.
