Safety is paramount
As cleanup efforts continue at Belle Park, the city of Kingston continues to grapple with the encampment situation in the city.
Mayor Bryan Paterson recognizes that each case of homlesness is different.
He says some encampments don't cause issues, while others like the one around the Integrated Care Hub on Montreal St. are another story.
He references the attack that left two people dead on September 12th as an example.
Staff and the organizations that run the Integrated Care Hub continue to work to re-open. The city has said funding from them, which is only a fraction of the operating budget, will be contingent on a safety plan being put into place to protect the workers and clients the hub serves.
