They will have the University District Safety Initiative in effect for two weeks starting next Thursday.
The City of Kingston will be paying close attention to the university district during Homecoming and Halloween.
They announced that the City's University District Safety Initiative will be in effect from October 15 to November 1.
During that period, there will be enhanced presence of members from Kingston Police and City By-Law Enforcement in the university district.
The City says officers will be handing out provincial offense notices or an administrative monetary penalties if they spot infractions.
They include: hosting, conducting or sponsoring a nuisance party ($2,000), failure to comply with an order to leave premises ($500), using a closed highway ($500), committing noise bylaw offences ($100 to $200), and failure to comply with signage ($200).
In addition to the UDSI, the City will also close the Gord Downie Pier and Breakwater Park on the following days: Oct 16 to 18, Oct 23 to 25, and Oct 30 to Nov 1. They say this is to prevent large unsanction gatherings and ensure the safety of community members.
There are also parking restrictions on the following streets from Oct 16 to 18 and Oct 23 to 25: Aberdeen St from Johnson St to Earl St, William St from University Ave to Division St, Earl St from University Ave to Division St, Division St from Johnson St to Earl St and from Clergy St to Union St, and Clergy St at Division St, alongside Dupuis Hall.
