Cataraqui Conservation has extended the Level 3 Low Water Condition across the Cataraqui Region as dry weather continues and rainfall remains well below normal.
According to the conservation authority, the region received only 41 per cent of its usual precipitation in September. Stream flows are extremely low or near zero, and groundwater levels are showing signs of long-term drought. Officials say without consistent or significant rainfall, the Level 3 declaration will likely stay in effect into late fall.
A Level 3 “Severe” Low Water Condition is the highest level under Ontario’s Low Water Response Program. It signals that water supply cannot meet demand if current conditions persist.
Residents using wells, lakes, or streams are urged to reduce non-essential water use, limit outdoor watering and car washing, and repair leaky plumbing. Boaters are also being warned to watch for exposed shoals and low water hazards.
Cataraqui Conservation continues to monitor water levels and will provide updates as conditions change.
