One lucky Kingston student to become police chief for a day
Grade 5 students in Kingston have a special chance to become Chief for a Day with Kingston Police.
To apply, students must write a 300-400 word essay explaining how they would make a difference in their community. The deadline to submit is June 20, 2025.
Essays can be dropped off at Kingston Police headquarters at 705 Division Street or emailed to Constable Valerie Hurding at vhurding@kingstonpolice.ca. Entries must include the student’s name, school, and contact information.
The winner will get Kingston Police swag, a station tour, and time with officers—including a ride in a cruiser, a visit to the canine unit, and the chance to take part in a real media conference.
Kingston Police say the contest is a fun way to get young people thinking about community leadership and public safety.
It’s a one-day experience the winner will never forget.
