Students, families and community invited to opening ceremony at LCVI.
The Limestone District School Board is inviting students, staff, families and community members to its Black History Month opening ceremony this week.
The event takes place Wednesday, Feb. 4, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at La Salle Intermediate and Vocational Institute on Van Order Drive in Kingston.
Organizers say the evening will focus on community, connection and celebration, with food, music and dancing. Programming includes a Kids Zone featuring Ruthy’s Reading Room and a live performance by Cassel Miles portraying historic freedom seeker Josiah Henson.
The opening ceremony is presented by the Limestone District School Board in partnership with the LCVI BIPOC affinity group and is open to the public.
