Kingston council to review update as services shift and site set for redevelopment.
The City of Kingston says people will still have access to shelter beds as it prepares to close the Adelaide Street Shelter on March 31, 2026.
Council will receive an update next week on the site, which has offered temporary supports since 2023. The city says new housing and homelessness programs are now open or coming soon, allowing the shelter to shut down.
Officials say beds at the Integrated Care Hub will remain open and are not affected by the planned closure of Kingston’s consumption and treatment services in June. Staff are working to keep 24 of those beds available long term.
The province is ending funding for some supervised consumption sites, including Kingston’s.
After the closure, the city plans to redevelop 38 Cowdy St., including new housing and an expansion of Frontenac Parkette. More details are expected later this year.
