The Kingston campaign also raised $3,465 for Partners in Mission Food Bank as demand for food assistance continues to climb
My Broadcasting Corporation’s All Hands on Deck Food Drive has collected more than 2,800 pounds of food and raised thousands of dollars for Partners in Mission Food Bank.
The annual Kingston campaign took place Thursday, with staff from 98.3 FLY FM, New Country 98.9 and 102.7 WOW FM broadcasting live from four locations across the city.
Despite torrential rain, thunder and lightning, the community came together to donate 2,804 pounds of food and $3,465 in cash.
The donations come as demand at Partners in Mission Food Bank continues to climb. The organization’s executive director Dan Irwin says household visits were already up substantially by the end of July.
Summer is traditionally a slower time for donations, before demand increases again during the back-to-school season.
The food collected will help provide groceries to people in Kingston and the surrounding area, while surplus food is also shared with local meal providers.
My Broadcasting Corporation thanked the community for helping make the food drive a success.
