Driver charged with impaired driving after Highway 401 collision

Oshawa man faces February court date

An SUV driver faces impaired driving charges following a collision with a tractor-trailer on Highway 401 near Highway 15 on December 21, 2024.

The crash occurred around 8:30 a.m., causing the tractor-trailer to roll into a ditch, spilling synthetic rubber and requiring a cleanup. The truck driver sustained minor injuries and was freed by witnesses.

The SUV fled but was tracked by a witness to Joyceville Road, where police found the driver attempting to change a flat tire.

Abdul Hakimy, 53, of Oshawa, is charged with impaired operation, driving over 80, and failing to remain at the scene. He appears in court February 4, 2025.
