Attempted murder charges laid after police confrontation in Stone Mills

The SIU is now investigating

A 41-year-old man is facing multiple charges, including four counts of attempted murder, after a confrontation with Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in Stone Mills Township.

Officers from the Lennox and Addington County OPP and the Emergency Response Team responded to a disturbance at a home on Lennox and Addington County Road 4 around 5 p.m. on January 17, 2025.

Police say they tried to communicate with a man inside the residence. When he exited, officers discharged an Anti-Riot Weapon Enfield (ARWEN) and firearms. The man suffered serious injuries and was taken to the hospital.

41-year-old Dustin Yeomans later was arrested on February 25 and is also charged with uttering threats and weapons offences. He remains in custody, with a bail hearing scheduled in Greater Napanee.

The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has invoked its mandate and is investigating the incident.
