67 drivers charged in distracted driving crackdown on Highway 401

OPP urges hands-free use

In a six-day operation, Lennox and Addington (L&A) and Frontenac County OPP officers targeted distracted drivers on Highway 401.

They charged 67 drivers, including nine commercial motor vehicles, for using hand-held communication devices while driving. Each driver faces a $615 fine, three demerit points, and a three-day licence suspension for their first conviction.

The OPP emphasizes that distracted driving can lead to tragic outcomes and urges drivers to use hands-free devices for their safety and the safety of others. This enforcement highlights the ongoing efforts to reduce distracted driving incidents and improve road safety.
