What's Good with the Kingston Sentinels: Looking to move up

The women's team sit third in the standings but have a pair of matches in hand on the leaders.

The Kingston Sentinels women's squad are heading into the final month of the regular season.

They look to finish strong with five matches left: two against the first-place Simcoe County Rovers and one versus second-place Pickering FC. Despite trailing the leaders by as much as nine points in the standings, the Sentinels do have one game in hand on Simcoe County and two on Pickering.

The team's Communications Manager Brittany Mercier says the women are starting to gel as a unit.

After dropping a 1-0 decision to North Toronto B on June 13, the women rebounded with a 2-2 draw with Whitby FC B on the 18th and a 2-0 victory over International FC on the 23rd.

Marra Stanistreet had a goal in that win for the Sentinels. That earned her player of the month honours by the team.

Mercier says Stanistreet is a very special player.

The women are home this Saturday against Unionville Milliken SC at CaraCo Field. Kick off is at 7:30 pm.

The men are in action Friday night on the road against Whitby FC B.
