What's Good with the Frontenacs? New face makes instant impact as captain nears major milestone

The Kingston Frontenacs split two games this past weekend, but there was no shortage of storylines heading into this coming weekend’s two-game rivalry set with Ottawa.

Kingston opened the weekend Friday, Oct. 16, with a 5-4 overtime win over Oshawa. Nolan Snyder scored twice and added an assist, including the overtime winner, while Robin Kuzma finished with a goal and an assist.

The Frontenacs then fell 5-2 to the Brampton Steelheads Saturday, Oct. 17, during the Seaway Shootout in Cornwall — Kingston’s first regular-season OHL game there since 1992.

One of Kingston’s newest players found the net in both games.

Cole Zurawski was acquired from the Owen Sound Attack Thursday, Oct. 15, for four OHL draft picks — two second-rounders and two third-rounders. He is also a 2026 sixth-round pick of the Florida Panthers.

He joined Kingston less than two days before making his Frontenacs debut.

Zurawski tied Friday’s game against Oshawa to force overtime before scoring again Saturday in Cornwall.

Another major storyline arrives this Friday, Oct. 23, when captain Vann Williamson is expected to play his 200th career OHL game. He would become the 44th Frontenac to reach the milestone after making his debut in November 2022.

His role has grown considerably since then.

Kingston also continues to rank among the league’s most disciplined teams. Through the weekend, the Frontenacs had just 92 penalty minutes — the lowest total in the OHL.

Now comes OHL Rivalry Weekend.

Kingston hosts Ottawa this Friday, Oct. 23, at Slush Puppie Place before travelling to face the 67’s Sunday, Oct. 25.

With four points available against an Eastern Conference rival, the weekend gives Kingston another chance to build momentum.
