What's Good near Kingston: Kurt Browning glides back into Gananoque

The former World Figure Skating Champion was in Gananoque for skating seminars.

Last week skaters of all ages welcomed World Figure Skating Champion Kurt Browning to Gananoque for an 8th year for a meet and greet and two days of skating seminars.

Browning spoke to us after his trip to Gan and the reasons why he keeps coming back to the town.

Local skater Reese Rose was part of the seminars and Browning had some high praise for this rising local star.

Browning said one of the organizers Sharon Nixon helped create a great environment.

Browning said a pleasant surprise to him on Wednesday was to do the meet and greet skate, which was held on the Gord Brown Memorial outdoor Rink.

He said he really enjoyed the experience.

The sessions also featured choreographer David Wilson.

A big thanks to the many volunteers who made the sessions enjoyable for everyone involved. He looks forward to hopefully making a return to Gananoque in 2027 to see familiar faces and make some new friends.
