Six-restaurant culinary fundraiser supports growing demand for school food programs across KFL&A.
A unique food event in Kingston is set to bring together some of the city’s top chefs for one night, all in support of local students.
Savour Spring: A Culinary Experience will take place May 2, offering guests the chance to sample dishes from six well-known kitchens while raising money for The Food Sharing Project. The charity provides free, nutritious food to students across the Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox and Addington region.
Chair of The Food Sharing Project, Brenda Moore, says the event stands out from past fundraisers.
Participating restaurants include AquaTerra, Baja Craft Kitchen, Bella Bistro, Couto Catering, CRAVE Coffee House and Days on Front. The evening will also feature a welcome cocktail, raw bar, local wine, live music and a silent auction.
Moore describes what guests can expect.
Organizers say the fundraiser comes at a critical time, as demand for school food programs continues to rise. Each week, the organization distributes thousands of meals and snacks to 88 publicly funded schools.
Moore says Kingston is a generous community.
Officials say events like this help ensure no student goes hungry. Moore explains.
Proceeds from the event will go toward helping the organization meet growing demand for student meal programs across the region.
