Walk for Alzheimer's coming soon!
Lots of people are expected to make their way to Regiopolis Notre Dame High School in Kingston to Walk for Alzheimer's.
The annual event goes this/next Saturday (May 24th) to raise funds for Alzheimer's research and supporting local community programs.
One of the directors on the board in Kingston Frontenac Lennox & Addington, Murray Hillier, gives some startling statistics on the number of people in Canada living with Alzheimer's disease or other forms of dementia.
According to their website (https://support.alzheimer.ca/site/TR?pg=entry&fr_id=5135), the fundraising goal for this year's event is $30,000.
Hillier says events like Walk for Alzheimer's gives them the opportunity to raise awareness about dementia and how it impacts those who not only suffer from the disease, but also family members and those who take care of them.
Hillier says the Alzheimer's Society is an extrodinarilly compassionate group of people whose focus is to provide support for those living with dementia.
