Every place is a learning place
United for Literacy, formerly known as Frontier College, is one of the oldest national programs in Canada. Everyone of their staff members and volunteers share the vision that literacy is a right, driving their mission to give people the skills and confidence they need to reach their potential.
Hillary Andru of the Kingston Program explains their history and goals.
While their origins in 1899 focused on setting up programs in remote and isolated communities, they've grown to connect with people from coast to coast across Canada. Hillary tells of their work in Kingston.
The advancement of our digital age hasn't reduced the need for improved literacy, in fact it makes those skills more important that ever. Hillary notes how critical it is in today's world and why the need is growing.
