What's Good in Kingston? Two Queen's students form organization to help children in hospitals

Little St. Nick Foundation Queen's delivers gift bags to help young patients in their recovery.

Two Queen's University health sciences students are spearheading an initiative in Kingston to help children who are in hospital for treatments.

Zein Hammad and Adytia Lumb are the co-founders of Little St. Nick Foundation Queen's, an organization that provides children with anti-anxiety gift bags to help them in their recovery.

The bags are filled with items such as colouring books, crayons, stuffed animals, pop it toys, handmade get-well cards, and more.

Hammad says it is a little something to help brighten a child's day.

Little St. Nick Foundation is based out of New York and launched in Canada in 2023.

Lumb says they formed the Kingston chapter as a way to give back to the community.

He says they are partnering with local hospitals to give away these gift bags.

Both Hammad and Lumb raised money through community-based events to pay for the gift bags.

Hammad says they not only bring joy to patients but also to those who donate to their program.

The Little St. Nick Foundation has raised nearly $1,500 for 200 personalized gift bags.

Lumb says helping the community is something both he and Hammad have been doing for a while.
