Kingston Choral Society presents “Into the Dreaming” with immersive music and storytelling.
The Kingston Choral Society is inviting audiences on a musical journey from waking to sleep with its upcoming concert “Into the Dreaming.”
The performance takes place Sunday, May 3 at The Spire in Kingston, with doors opening at 2 p.m. and the show starting at 2:30 p.m.
The program features works by composers including Ola Gjeilo, Thomas La Voy, Morten Lauridsen and Eric Whitacre.
President of the Kingston Choral Society, Hollie Stewart, praised the artistic direction behind the show.
Organizers say the concert explores the quiet transition into sleep, beginning with gentle night-inspired music before moving into more mysterious pieces that reflect the dream state. Stewart says music can capture the feeling of dreaming in ways words cannot.
Two major works — “Dreamweaver” and “The Dreams That Remain” — draw on poetry and folklore to explore the subconscious and the afterlife.
Stewart says the program is designed as a seamless journey
The performance will be accompanied by pianist Clare Marion and a string ensemble.
Tickets range from $20 to $40, with free admission for children 16 and under.
