What's Good in Kingston: Sheep Dog Trials

You won’t believe what these dogs can do: Kingston Sheep Dog Trials return this August

The Kingston Sheep Dog Trials Festival returns to Grass Creek Park from August 8 to 10, offering three days of action-packed, family-friendly fun. Now in its 38th year, the event showcases world-class canine talent, including the Canadian Border Collie Association National Championships.

Festival chair Amanda Milliken, who has led the event since its beginning, says those interested in getting involved can find everything they need on-site.

In addition to the high-stakes trialing competition where Border Collies guide sheep through complex obstacle courses; visitors can enjoy shearing, weaving and spinning demos, agility shows, and a vendor village.

Milliken, who’s chaired the festival since its launch in 1987, shares how it all began and evolved into a major Canadian dog sport event.

And for those who've never seen a sheep dog trial before, Milliken says, prepare to be amazed.

Don’t miss your chance to experience one of Kingston’s most unique summer events. Whether you're a longtime fan or first-time visitor, the Kingston Sheep Dog Trials Festival promises something for everyone.
