What's Good in Kingston? Orchestra Kingston concert features clarinet soloist and Beethoven classic

Robin Dupré will perform Weber’s Clarinet Concerto No. 2 during the orchestra’s season-opening concert on November 1.

Orchestra Kingston is bringing classical favourites and local compositions to the stage as it launches its 2026-27 season on November 1.

The concert will feature Acting Principal Clarinetist Robin Dupré performing Carl Maria von Weber’s virtuosic Clarinet Concerto No. 2, replacing previously announced soloist Zhiyi Song.

The program also includes Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphony No. 1, alongside cinematic works by Canadian composer Godfrey Ridout, French composer Lili Boulanger and local composer Dave Barton.

Dupré says shes been playing the clarinet for a long time.

The concert begins at 2:30 p.m. at The Spire’s Performance Hall in Kingston.

Tickets cost $25 for adults and $20 for seniors and students. Admission is free for children aged 16 and under.

Orchestra Kingston’s season continues in December with a holiday concert featuring She Sings! Women’s Choir, followed by performances in February and May.

The season finale will feature works by local composer Daniel McConnachie, Antonín Dvo?ák and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
