What's Good in Kingston: Music from Miles Around

The exhibition goes over Kingston's rich musical history.

The long musical history of the Limestone City will be on display at City Hall.

Music from Miles Around allows visitors to get to experience everything from the sounds and traditions that predate Kingston to the artists, venues, educators and community spaces still shaping its music scene today.

City Curator at Heritage Services with the City of Kingston Melissa Cruise says people will be able to learn how the musical roots began in Kingston.

The exhibition will feature materials, artifacts, personal stories, immersive experiences, and interactive elements.

Cruise says it will take a look at how local radio and record stores influenced the way people consumed music.

There will also be a section dedicated to Kingston's Juno Award winning band, the Tragically Hip.

Cruise says no exhibit about the musical history of Kingston would have been complete without highlighting the legendary group.

But Cruise says Kingston's music scene goes beyond the Tragically Hip.

She says local musicians have been supporting one another for years.

Music from Miles Around presented by Empire Life will run for one year starting June 20 at Market Wing Cultural Space inside Kingston City Hall. Admission to the exhibit is free.
