Murney Tower Museum will celebrate its 101st anniversary with a full day of free activities, local heritage groups and interactive exhibits on Aug. 15.
Murney Tower Museum is inviting the community to celebrate its 101st anniversary during Murney Fest, a free family event on Saturday, Aug. 15. Organizer, Alexa Grandy says there is a new change this year.
The annual festival runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the museum and nearby Macdonald Park. Visitors can enjoy hands-on activities, including crafts, button and bracelet making, a scavenger hunt and yard games. Grandy explains more.
Several local museums and heritage organizations will also be on site, including the Queen's University Archives, Kingston Scout Museum, Bellevue House National Historic Site, South Frontenac Museum and the Canadian Penitentiary Museum.
Guests can also explore Murney Tower Museum's newest exhibits and learn about the site's 101-year history. Admission to Murney Fest is free, while regular museum admission is by donation.
Manager and Curator Alison Dringenberg said the event brings together history, creativity and community while helping visitors discover Kingston's heritage and the people who work to preserve it.
