Free outdoor movie series kicks off June 25 at Springer Market Square, with an optional Star Lounge experience available
Movie lovers can enjoy a night under the stars as Movies in the Square returns to downtown Kingston on Thursday, June 25.
Organizer Sandi Griffiths says the movie starts at dusk.
The popular summer series transforms Springer Market Square into a free outdoor movie theatre each Thursday evening throughout the season. The opening feature is The Greatest Showman, the 2017 musical drama.
Griffiths says there are lots of pre-screening activities.
The film tells the story of P.T. Barnum, a dreamer who rises from humble beginnings to create a spectacular entertainment empire while celebrating people who are often overlooked.
Residents and visitors are encouraged to bring blankets or lawn chairs and arrive early to secure a good viewing spot. Movies begin at dusk rather than a set time to ensure the best viewing conditions after sunset.
Griffith says they like to have plenty of genres to choose from.
Admission to Movies in the Square is free.
Those looking for an upgraded experience can purchase Star Lounge tickets for $10, which provide reserved seating for the June 25 screening.
The outdoor movie series continues on Thursday evenings throughout the summer in the heart of downtown Kingston.
