What's Good in Kingston: May is Community Living Month

When all members of a community have a voice and purpose, everyone benefits.

Community Living Kingston and District (CLKD) is working hard to help build an inclusive community where individuals with intellectual disabilities enjoy the same rights and privileges as others. In May CLKD along with other Community Living organizations across the province celebrate May as Community Living Month.

Executive Director Sheri Scott tells us what it's all about.

This year CLKD is launching a social-media campaign to encourage everyone to look beyond the label.

Scott says it's an important step in creating a truly inclusive community.

CLKD is holding an open house on May 5th from 3 pm to 6 pm at their new training space, the PDS Resource Centre at 5-1440 Princess St.

Scott says it's a great opportunity to come, connect, learn and be inspired and to discover what we can do together

Each day in May, CLKD is featuring someone new on their Facebook and Instagram accounts to highlight their unique strengths, roles, and interests.
