Bringing true accessibility and inclusivity to sport.

Limestone Boccia bringing true accessibility and inclusivity to sport

Boccia, a fully inclusive sport debuted at the 1984 Paralympic Games. It developed in Europe in the late 1970s for athletes with severe physical disabilities and has since grown into a highly strategic, precision-based sport contested worldwide.

Chris Woolnough is spearheading a drive to bring this sport to Kingston and the area. He tells us why.

While boccia is similar to the popular lawn game bocce, it has its own unique features as Woolnough explains.

Woolnough's efforts are being supported by the Ontario Cerebral Palsy Sports Association and a grant from the Telus Friendly Future Foundation. A playing location is still in the works with several venues being explored.

Woolnough says popularity in the sport is growing and it brings great rewards to players
