Canadian Walk for Veterans will honour MWO (Ret’d) Jean Blain on Sept. 27
The Kingston Military Family Resource Centre is inviting the community to take part in the Canadian Walk for Veterans on Sept. 27, an event that will carry special meaning for local military families this year.
The walk brings Veterans, military members, families and community supporters together to recognize those who have served and the families who support them. For Kingston, it will also be an opportunity to remember MWO (Ret’d) Jean Blain, a dedicated supporter of the local walk.
Blain’s brother, Claude, will take part this year in honour of Jean, giving the event a personal connection for a family that has supported the cause.
Cheyenne Thom, outreach coordinator with the Kingston Military Family Resource Centre, says the walk is an opportunity for the community to stand shoulder to shoulder with those who have served.
The event will be held at the Kingston Military Family Resource Centre at 32 Lundy’s Lane. Registration begins at noon, with the walk starting at 1 p.m. Participants can choose between 2.3-kilometre and five-kilometre routes, with families, strollers and pets welcome.
Thom also explains who Jean Blain was and why his connection to the walk is being remembered this year.
Proceeds from the walk support programs and services for Veterans and their families.
Registration and donations are available through the Kingston Military Family Resource Centre.
