What's Good in Kingston: Kingston job fair promises direct access to employers and career advice

Academy of Learning Career College teams up with Career Pathways Magazine to connect job seekers with local organizations this Friday.

People looking for work or career advice will have a chance to meet employers and community organizations at a new networking event in Kingston later this month.

The first Job Connections Fair, also known as the Career Collective, will take place June 19 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Academy of Learning Career College Kingston. The event is being organized in partnership with Career Pathways Magazine and is open to the public.

Organizers say the fair is designed to connect job seekers with local employers, showcase in-demand skills and provide access to career support services. Attendees will also have the opportunity to learn what businesses are looking for when hiring and have meaningful conversations about building successful careers. Academic director, Tara Teeling explains more.

Participating organizations include Kingston Health Sciences Centre, Correctional Service of Canada, the City of Kingston, Commissionaires Kingston, ReStart, Agilec Loyalist Township, Holiday Inn Kingston-Waterfront, Carson Dunlop and Stride Academy, with additional employers expected to attend.

Teeling says that this fair is for people at multiple stages of life.

She also says that it's open to the public.

Organizers encourage visitors to bring their goals and curiosity as they explore career opportunities and network with businesses that play an important role in Kingston’s economy and surrounding communities.
