MBC is hosting a community-wide food drive Aug. 27 at grocery stores in Kingston and the surrounding area.
Kingston residents will have an opportunity to help fill local food bank shelves later this month as My Broadcasting Corporation hosts a community-wide food drive.
The food drive takes place Aug. 27 at multiple grocery store locations across Kingston and the surrounding area. Donations will support Partners in Mission Food Bank and help provide food to people facing food insecurity.
Partners in Mission Food Bank executive director Dan Irwin says the organization continues to see demand for its services and is looking for donations of needed food items.
The food bank provides non-perishable foods as well as fresh items such as milk, eggs, fruits and vegetables.
It also acts as a food distribution centre for the area, donating surplus food to local meal providers throughout Kingston.
Organizers are encouraging residents who are able to participate in the Aug. 27 drive to pick up an extra item or two while grocery shopping and donate it at one of the participating locations. Irwin tells us what items are needed most right now.
Irwin says they wouldn't be able to stay up and running without the generousity of the community.
Every donation can help the food bank continue nourishing people in the community.
