What's Good in Kingston: Kingston Climate Summit returns with astronaut keynote speaker

Event to focus on local climate solutions, partnerships and sustainability action at St. Lawrence College

The Kingston Climate Summit returns June 3 and 4 at St. Lawrence College as a two-day event focused on local climate solutions. Organizers say the expanded summit will bring together community members, leaders and experts under the theme Shaping Our Future Together.

It is presented by ICLEI Canada, the City of Kingston and Sustainable Kingston, with Utilities Kingston as platinum sponsor and Queen’s University as silver sponsor.

Executive director of Sustainable Kingston, Julia Stroud explains the theme.

A keynote by astronaut Dr Dave Williams will be held June 3 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., titled Space on Earth – A Sustainable Future. Stroud explains more.

City officials say his experience in space, medicine and extreme environments offers lessons for climate resilience and innovation.

Registration is open, with tickets available for corporate attendees at $50 and students and community members at $35, plus limited free spots.

Stroud describes what to expect this year.

Full programming and keynote speakers will be announced in the coming weeks as interest grows across the city.

Organizers encourage residents, students and professionals to register early as space is limited and demand is expected to be high.

Online registration required now.
