What's Good in Kingston: King's Town School Band in Santa Claus Parade

The parade goes this Saturday night in downtown Kingston.

A local school band is preparing to perform during Kingston's Santa Claus Parade.

Members of the King's Town School band will be taking part in Saturday's parade down Princess St. in downtown Kingston.

The school's music teacher, Caitlin Barton, says the students are excited to be in the parade.

Barton says the band consists of students outside their music class who excel in their chosen instruments.

Spectators will get to hear the band perform a number of Christmas tunes throughout the parade.

Barton says the students have had experience performing live on-stage in front of large audiences.

Barton says weather shouldn't be too much of a factor but some instruments are harder to play in cold temperatures.

The nighttime Santa Claus parade kicks off at 5 pm from the intersection of Bath Rd. and Princess St. It will travel down Princess to Ontario where it will go west ending at Springer Market Square.

There will be a Christmas tree lighting ceremony at the square at the conclusion of the parade.
