Murney Tower Museum invites young explorers to discover history through games, crafts and hands-on activities
Children will have the chance to step into Kingston's past when Murney Tower Museum hosts its free Kids Take Over the Museum event on July 23.
The family-friendly program is designed for children aged five to 12 and offers an interactive way to learn about local history inside one of Kingston's historic Martello Towers.
Manager Alison Dringenberg says this event is free.
Participants can choose from four one-hour sessions running from 10 to 11 a.m., noon to 1 p.m., 2 to 3 p.m., and 4 to 5 p.m.
The event will feature guided tours, hands-on workshops, crafts and games aimed at making history fun and accessible for young visitors.
Activities include a scavenger hunt, an interactive card game, a military hat craft and an artifact workshop that allows children to explore historical objects and stories.
The event takes place at Murney Tower Museum, located at 2 King St. W. Admission is free, but advance registration is required due to limited space.
Organizers say the program encourages children to engage with Kingston's rich military and community history while enjoying a memorable day of learning and discovery.
