Visitors looking for a different way to experience Kingston can explore the city's haunted history through a series of walking tours offered by The Haunted Walk this summer.
The Original Haunted Walk of Kingston, which began in 1995, takes guests through the historic Sydenham Ward with lantern-carrying storytellers sharing tales of haunted hotels, hidden burial grounds, grave robbings and the city's famous haunted courtyard. Manager Jax Harripersad explains some of the history.
Other experiences include Ghosts of Fort Henry, where visitors hear stories of executions, Deadman's Bay and reported paranormal encounters inside the 19th-century fortress. The Ghosts of the SS Keewatin tour explores eerie stories aboard the historic Great Lakes steamship after dark. Harripersad says there's something for everyone.
For those seeking local history without the scares, the Hidden Kingston City Tour highlights unusual stories, colourful characters and little-known moments from the city's past.
