The fundraiser supports Homes For Heroes Foundation, which provides veterans with housing, community and support as they transition to civilian life.
A Kingston fundraising gala is supporting efforts to help veterans experiencing homelessness find stable housing and rebuild their lives.
The Glimmer Gala 2026 is organized in support of Homes For Heroes Foundation, a charity building Veterans' Villages across Canada to help veterans transition back into mainstream society.
Chair of the gala and realtor, Gail Power explains more
The villages feature small, self-contained homes that provide residents with a safe, private place to live. Each home is approximately 300 square feet and is arranged around shared spaces designed to encourage community and peer support.
Villages can also include community kitchens, laundry facilities, gardens, gathering spaces and offices for support workers. The goal is to provide veterans with housing alongside individualized support and a renewed sense of belonging.
The foundation currently has Veterans' Villages in Kingston, Calgary and Edmonton, with planning underway for future developments in Winnipeg and London.
A study by McGill University's Max Bell School of Public Policy estimated that as many as 10,000 Canadian veterans were experiencing homelessness, highlighting the need for housing and support tailored to their needs.
The Glimmer Gala will feature a three-course dinner, live entertainment, auctions and other activities. The event is scheduled for Nov. 7 at the Marriott in downtown Kingston, with proceeds supporting the foundation's mission.
Power shares what to expect at the gala.
