Families invited to explore naval history, crafts and performances at the Great Lakes Museum.
Families looking for something fun and free this March Break can set sail for a week of activities in Kingston.
The Great Lakes Museum is taking part in the March of the Museums, offering free admission and daily activities from March 16 to 20.
The museum will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day, with no registration required.
Experience manager, Clair Nottman describes this years theme.
Visitors can explore naval history through hands-on activities, including knot tying with Sea and Navy Cadets, nautical crafts and a custom Canadian version of Battleship where players try to outsmart a U-boat. Guests can also test if they are “Fit to Serve” in the Canadian Naval Reserve.
Nottman explains more
Families can learn about traditional birch bark canoes and how waterways once served as Canada’s first highways.
Nottman says there will be a lot of different things that you can do.
Special performances include Songs and Stories from the Sugar Bush by Paddling Puppeteers on March 16 and Indigenous drumming with Mandy and Crystal on March 17.
