What's Good in Kingston: Fort Henry Tattoo returns with music, military tradition and fireworks this July

Annual Kingston event will feature five bands, local performers and a spectacular waterfront finale

One of Kingston's signature summer events is returning later this month. The Fort Henry Tattoo takes place Saturday, July 25, at Fort Henry National Historic Site, with tickets available now.

The annual event transforms the Parade Square into a large outdoor performance space featuring military and civilian musicians from across Ontario. This year's program includes five bands performing brass, reed, pipe and drum music alongside the Fort Henry Guard Drum Corps and Artillery.

Events and Operations Coordinator Alex Lauzon explains what 'tattoo' means in this context.

Local performers include the Rob Roy Pipe Band and Highland Dancers, while the LaSalle Causeway Swing Band will provide pre-show entertainment. Canadian author Tom Taylor will also host a pre-show book signing.

The evening concludes with a massed-band performance and a fireworks display over Kingston's waterfront. General admission and premium balcony tickets are on sale now.
