What's Good in Kingston: Fairgrounds serving up court time for food donation

The pickle ball court in Kingston is accepting donations all this week for the Partners in Mission Food Bank.

Here's a chance to exchange a jar of pickles for a pickle ball.

Fairgrounds Racket Club at Cataraqui Centre is inviting the public to try their pickleball courts for free. They are holding a food drive all this week for the Partners in Mission Food Bank.

Patrons can donate a non-perishable food item or make a cash donation for one free hour of court time.

Fairgrounds general manager David Albert says the collaboration with the food bank is a way of giving back to the community.

The food drive officially kicked off on Friday. Dan Irwin, executive director of Partners in Mission, Kingston Mayor Bryan Paterson, and Kingston and the Islands MPP Ted Hsu were there for the launch.

They already had one bin filled up before the Noon hour and Albert hopes they can fill more bins by the end of the week.

Albert says they hope to get as much food and monetary donations as they can between now and this Friday.

Fairgrounds is open 7 days a week until 9 pm. For more information call 613-384-0620 or go to visitfairgrounds.com.
