An invaluable part of the community.
Extend-A-Family Kingston (EAFK) was established in 1981 with the goal of providing individuals who have a disability with opportunities to develop friendships and integrate into their communities.
Inclusive Programs Manager Sara Bobbie tells us who they are.
They're committed to providing a range of supports and services to individuals with a disability and their families. They provide a choice of services and supports for children with developmental disabilities, physical disabilities and Autism Spectrum Disorders, as well as a range of services and supports for adults with a developmental disability.
Director Esther Steele tells us what's truly special about Extend-A-Family.
Over the years they've developed close collaborative relationships with a number of area organizations and schools; working together for a common goal. Programs for children include family support, respite, inclusive seasonal camps, recreational programs, and community participation supports.
The Adult Day Program focuses on enhancing social, educational and healthy lifestyles and providing recreational opportunities for all program participants. Every summer they fill a bus for a trip to take in a Blue Jays game; an event made possible through donations.
Staff and participants are very proud to be a part of the community.
Esther provides a great example of providing the opportunity for giving back.
