“Life After School: A Career Conversation & Dinner for Teens” goes Wednesday at the Central Library Branch.
Kingston Frontenac Public Library is inviting teens and their families to explore future career paths at a special event on Wednesday, May 13.
“Life After School: A Career Conversation & Dinner for Teens” runs from 4 to 7 pm at the Central Branch at 130 Johnson St., offering a relaxed space for youth to learn about a wide range of professions.
Meagan Gilpin, the teens and new adults services librarian tells us what to expect.
The evening begins with a career mixer, where attendees can meet professionals from fields like healthcare, law, skilled trades, technology, and the arts, and ask questions about education, day-to-day work, and career journeys.
None of this would be possible without the Library's Teen Advisory Group which inspired and developed this event as Gilpin reports.
A free dinner and panel discussion will follow the mixer, featuring local experts sharing insights into today’s job market, along with a live Q&A.
One of the main benefits of the evening is the recognition that teens face a lot of stress today says Gilpin.
Organizers say the event aims to help young people discover new possibilities—whether they have a clear plan or are still exploring. The event is free, and no registration is required.
