What's Good in Kingston: Community volunteer recruitment fair

The fair is happening on Apr 23 at Providence Village.

Scrolling through any community's social media pages will inevitably reveal the questions; how and where can I help?

Whether it's someone new to a particular town, or has the time and the desire to give back, volunteers are out there; they just need to be asked. And today, that question is more important than ever as volunteer hours across the country are down almost 30% from where they were just 6 years ago.

As volunteers are the true heart of any community, matching their skills and availability with the right organizations is key to getting to getting help to those in need.

The Kingston and Area Association of Administrators of Volunteers (KAAAV) is hosting an inaugural community volunteer recruitment fair on April 23th from 4-7 pm at Providence Village in Kingston.

KAAAV's president Eleoner Egidio tells us what it's all about

Over two dozen area organizations will be at the fair, giving potential volunteers great opportunities to connect and learn.

Nearly half of charities report not having enough volunteers, risking reductions in the great work these organizations do. Egidio tells us that the fair is a timely opportunity for volunteers to give back to their community.

Come out to meet inspiring organizations making a difference and explore volunteer roles that match your interest and build new connections to strengthen community ties.
