What's good in Kingston? Charity golf event to have first-ever golf ball drop

Money raised from the ball drop and golf event will go to help 500 local youth play sports

A former NHL player and Kingston native is set to host his annual charity golf event.

The 4th annual McClement Family Golf Classic takes place July 10th at Smuggler's Glen Golf Course in Landsdowne.

The tournament is organized by Jay McClement and his family.

New this year is a helicopter golf ball drop.

Director of Communications at Boys and Girls Club Southeast Amanda Guarino says a trip for two is up for grabs.

500 golf balls will be dropped from the helicopter provided by 1000 Islands Helicopter Tours and Mobile Kitchens Canada.

Capt. Dave Kouri and Capt. David Craig are donating their time to fly the helicopter for the ball drop.

Guarino says this a one-of-a-kind giveaway.

Guarino says can get their tickets for the ball drop at the BGC Southwest office on Bath Road or on their website. (https://www.bgcsoutheast.ca/)

In the three years, the tournament has raised over $115,000 for the McClement Family Sports Leagues, a free program serving 500 local youth.
