Free skating, family activities, and festive fun await at the INVISTA Centre on Dec. 31

Kingston is inviting residents to ring in 2026 at the free, family-friendly K-Town Countdown event on Wednesday, Dec. 31, from 5 to 9 p.m. at the INVISTA Centre. Guests can enjoy public skating with disco lights and music, with skate rentals available at Jack’s Pro Shop. Manager of Events and Programs, Megan Sirett explains more about the event.

A sensory-friendly skating hour runs from 4 to 5 p.m., offering dim lighting, no music, and skate supports, with complimentary rentals.

Families can meet costumed characters, explore the Zoo to You Animal Display, and enjoy New Year’s Eve-themed face painting in the main concourse. Haymakers Canteen will be open throughout the evening for snacks and refreshments.

The event is designed for all ages, providing a safe, festive way for the community to celebrate the new year together. Megan Sirett talks about the atmosphere of the evening.
