Choir joins Kingston Symphony for milestone finale featuring Ola Gjeilo work and world premiere.
Cantabile Choirs of Kingston will close its 30th anniversary season with a special concert featuring the Kingston Symphony and Ola Gjeilo’s Sunrise Mass at the Isabel Bader Centre for the Performing Arts.
The program highlights the acclaimed Norwegian composer’s choral work Sunrise Mass, known for its soaring harmonies and emotional depth, performed with full strings and more than 140 singers.
Artistic director, Geoff Sirett says that this is a great way to reflect on the last 30 years.
It will also include the world premiere of a new commissioned work by Cantabile founding artistic director Dr. Mark Sirett, set to text by poet Rabindranath Tagore, featuring alumni singers joining current choristers in a celebration of 30 years of music and community.
Geoff Sirett praised Dr. Mark Sirett.
Performances take place on Saturday, June 6 at 7:30 pm and Sunday, June 7 at 2:30 pm, marking a major collaboration between Cantabile and the Kingston Symphony in Kingston.
Tickets are available by phone at (613) 549-0099 and through ThunderTix, and organizers say the concert celebrates legacy, community connection, and the power of choral music in the city.
It marks Cantabile’s milestone season finale with music, reflection, and celebration in Kingston.
