What's Good in Kingston: Busy Bees fly into the PumpHouse

Children learn about how bees live through sensory play, simple crafts, songs and movement, and gentle nature-based learning.

Buzz into learning at Busy Bees, a weekly early years program that turns the PumpHouse Museum into a hive of hands-on discovery! Designed for little ones ages 0–3 (with older siblings always welcome), each session features playful, developmentally appropriate activities that get kids moving, exploring, creating, and imagining. Curator Melissa Cruise tells of the great resources put to work to make this all happen.

Through sensory play, simple crafts, songs and movement, and gentle nature-based learning, children will discover how bees live, work, communicate, and help flowers grow.

It's all about hands-on fun and learning according to Cruise.

Caregivers stay with their child for the duration of the session, and are welcome to enjoy more museum time after the program. Cruise says it's never too early to plant good environmental stewardship seeds.

A different bee lesson is provided each Wednesday from June 3rd to July 8th running from 10:30 to 11:15 am. Preregistration is recommended through kingstonpumphouse.ca.
