Money raised supports prostate cancer research
The sound of motorcycles driving down area roads will be filling the air next weekend.
It is the annual Kingston-Quinte Ride for Dad in support of prostate cancer research.
Chair Marion Perry says Saturday May 31 is a very special day for those involved in this event.
The money raised from this event goes towards prostate cancer research.
This year it is going to a project led by Dr. John Allingham who along with his team of researchers are developing a new targeted therapy for metastatic prostate cancer.
For Perry, this year's Ride for Dad marks a sombre anniversary.
There was an event preview and cheque presentation that took place at the Cataraqui Arena last Saturday (May 16).
Perry presented a cheque for $30,000 to the University Hospitals Kingston Foundation. That represents the money raised from the 2024 event which had over 370 participants.
Perry says the Kingston-Quinte Ride for Dad is a day-long event that is not just for motorcyclists.
