Almost Home is celebrating a major show of community support after its annual charity golf tournament sold out weeks before the event.
The tournament, set for Sept. 11 at Rivendell Golf Club, will welcome 184 golfers for a day of golf, friendship and fundraising.
Almost Home provides a home-away-from-home for families whose children are receiving medical treatment at Kingston-area hospitals. The organization offers families a place to rest, eat and find comfort during difficult and uncertain times. Fund development manager, Leslie Myles explains more.
Almost Home receives no ongoing government or agency funding, making community donations and fundraising events an important part of keeping its doors open.
The annual tournament has become one of those key events, raising significant funds each year to support the organization’s work. Myles says they're grateful for the community's support.
Organizers say they are grateful for the strong response and excited to see a full field on the course.
The sold-out event shows the impact Almost Home has in the community and the willingness of local supporters to help families when they need it most.
The tournament will also include games, prizes, food and other activities for participants.
