What's Good in Kingston: All Hands on Deck Food Drive

Bring food or monetary donations to Food Basics, Giant Tiger, or Watt's Independent Grocer this Thursday.

The All Hands on Deck food drive is coming to Kingston.

It is the first-time the My Broadcasting Corporation initiative is happening in the Limestone City.

This Thursday from 10 am to 6 pm, volunteers will be collecting donations of non-perishable food items, cash, and grocery gift cards for the Partners in Mission Food Bank.

Executive Director of the food bank Dan Irwin is thrilled to be part of this event.

The food drive is taking place at three locations: Food Basics on Princess St., Giant Tiger at the RioCan Centre off Gardiners Rd., and at Watt's Your Independent Grocer on Gore Rd.

Reid and Ben from 98.3 FLY FM, Big G, Matty, and Trinette of New Country 98.9, and Sideshow from 102.7 WOW FM will be in hand to help collect donations.

Irwin says food bank usage is usually high in the summer and hopes this will allow them to restock the shelves much sooner.

However, during the summer, the number of donation the food bank receives is low.

Irwin says they have managed to keep up with the demand at a critical time.

My Broadcasting Corporation is the parent company of 98.3 FLY FM, New Country 98.9, and 102.7 WOW FM along with KingstonDaily.ca.
