What's Good in Kingston: A simple bid could help inspire thousands of local students in South East Ontario

BGC South East auction supports programs and a special student event for more than 6,000 youth.

A local online auction is aiming to make a big impact on children and youth across South East Ontario.

BGC South East has launched its annual fundraiser, with proceeds supporting sports, literacy and STEM programs that serve more than 6,000 local children and youth.

Director, Resource Development and Communications, Amanda Guarino explains more.

Organizers say the funding helps provide safe spaces, mentorship and opportunities for young people to build confidence and develop important life skills.

Guarino says that this is their first year doing an online auction.

A portion of the funds will also go toward bringing Jay Dearborn to speak to about 1,000 local high school students, offering motivation and real-life insight.

Guarino expresses gratitude towards those who donated the auction items.

While the auction features high-value items like a luxury getaway, a sightseeing flight over Kingston and a VIP radio experience with New Country 98.9, organizers say the real prize is community support.

The auction is open now and runs until March 25 through the BidRush platform, with 100% of the proceeds going to BGC South East.
