The running event is to raise money for Victim Services of Kingston Frontenac.
A new fundraising event is coming to Kingston.
9RUNRUN takes place this Saturday at Lake Ontario Park.
It is a 2K and 5K run that raises money for Victim Services of Kingston Frontenac.
Race Director Brenda Tirrell says the event has been going on for years in Ottawa.
She says it has been very successful and are hoping to duplicate that here in the Limestone City.
Tirrell is a retired firefighter and former paramedic. She used to run long distance but never organized a half-marathon before.
She says this is an opportunity to bring first responders in the three areas together for one day.
In addition to the run, there will be a chili cook-off.
Tirrell says first responders will bring in their recipe and the participants vote on who has the best chili.
