The Kingston Frontenacs could hardly have asked for a better opening weekend.
Kingston started the 2026-27 OHL season with a 6-3 road victory over Peterborough before Alex Misiak’s overtime winner lifted the Frontenacs past Ottawa 3-2 in Sunday’s home opener.
Several players made an immediate impact. Alex McLean, Landon Wright and Nolan Snyder each recorded three points against Peterborough, while Dante D’Andrea scored his first OHL goal.
But one of the biggest stories was rookie goaltender Royden Smith.
Smith followed with 26 saves against Ottawa, earning OHL Rookie of the Week honours after stopping 70 shots over his first two career games.
Kingston’s start also moved the club from seventh to second in the OHL Power Rankings.
What’s Good co-host Jack Clark says the offensive depth was another encouraging sign.
Vann Williamson, Adam Goljer and Matthew Minchak are also expected back from NHL camps.
Next up is Sarnia Friday night.
